Gasibu Market
The view of our third morning in Bandung, taken from the rooftop of Pasar Baru.
But before that, we were eventually at the Gasibu Market. Located in the vicinity of Gedung Sate, this Sunday market begins its operation at 6.00am and ends by 12.00noon. (Behind the claustrophobic market is the Gedung Sate).
You could get everything here – from local culinaries, clothes, shoes, dvd, electronic gadgets, trinkets, bags, ladies accessories, household products etc. at super cheap prices. Make sure you use your bargaining skill to its maximum.
But what interests us are not those supercheap and super common items. We are more curious on the uncanny stuffs, such as this one – manual kiddie rides! I couldn’t imagine the effort required if all the rides are fully occupied. The thought of it makes me sweat!
Merry-go-round on pedals. Indonesia is definitely unique and creative!
As we walk by, we come across this father and son.
On closer look, they are actually selling hermit crab pulling cart!
The kids are restless as the day is getting hotter, so we decide to end our tour. Upon exiting, we spot a guy playing the Digiridoo – what in the world a native Australian instrument is doing amongst the local handycrafts? Ah yes, perhaps it has something to do with Indonesia being neighbour to Australia and part of Indonesia is of Papua; that sorts of explain the cultural assimilations.
The End.
P/s: We continue our day with shopping, which not worth telling here (again!). To read about our previous visit to this city of Paris of Java (Paris Van Java), see HERE.
